What Kiboko Means

Kiboko is the Swahili word for the whole dried coffee cherry. Farmers sun-dry the entire fruit on raised beds and sell it unprocessed. It is the rawest farmgate form of Ugandan robusta, bought by mills and processors who hull and grade it into Screen 18, 15, and 12.

Nonda buys kiboko from farmers and mills it into graded green bean for export. Full grade directory at our grade directory.

Cup: Earthy, full-bodied (after milling)

Kiboko FAQ

What is kiboko coffee?

Kiboko is robusta sold as whole sun-dried coffee cherries, still in the fruit. It is the rawest farmgate grade, bought by mills to hull and grade into export screens.

How is kiboko priced?

Kiboko trades at farmgate in Ugandan shillings per kilogram, currently around UGX 5,500/kg. It is cheaper than green bean because the hull makes up part of the weight.

Does Nonda export kiboko?

Nonda buys kiboko from farmers and mills it into graded green bean for export. We sell the graded screens (18, 15, 12) FOB, not the raw cherry.
